Linguistic QA
(LQA) Process

Linguistic Quality Assurance, often shortened as "LQA", is the final and ultimate phase a product goes through before reaching its audience. Our native translators ensure that their translations are presented as intended on-screen by playing the game themselves. During this phase, the translator may discover previously-unseen errors from bleeding text and other UI errors to cultural and political issues that may be deemed inappropriate in their given representation, and fix them accordingly. This is conducted as a separate process after localization is completed.

Translations that don't consider context or linguistic nuances may feel unnatural to locals. Especially with AI translation, results tend to reflect the frequency of user-selected options, which can lead to output that doesn't suit the content.

When translating between languages that have honorifics, using English as the starting language can lead to the loss of these expressions. This often occurs in the flow from Japanese to English to Korean or from Korean to English to Japanese.
